Peter Krashes
Paintings Best Seen from 100 Feet
April 22 - May 22, 2004
Opening Reception: Thursday, April 22, 6 - 8 pm

Derek Eller Gallery is pleased to present Peter Krashes’ fourth solo show in New York, Paintings Best Seen from 100 Feet. In this exhibition Krashes presents large scale works that simultaneously suggest both astral and terrestrial landscapes. Over the last three years, Krashes has flown hundreds of ellipses in an airplane around his parents’ house. The motion of these flights have inspired paintings that are gestural, elusive, and tightly structured. The works contain variations in the level of light and detail in order to compress different moments in time into one image. The resulting ironically manipulated landscapes are hypnotic, romantic, and sometimes ecstatic.

Peter Krashes’ work has appeared in numerous exhibitions in New York. This will be his second show with the gallery.

Derek Eller Gallery is located at 526 West 25th Street, 2nd floor. Hours are Tuesday - Saturday from 11am - 6pm. For further information or visuals, please contact the gallery at 212.206.6411 or visit www.derekeller.com.
